Eighth Grade Social Studies Syllabus

Studying is essential for my class.

If you do not put forth effort outside of school, it will be a tough year in Eighth Grade Social Studies.

Do your best EVERY day!
I understand there are sometimes things outside of school that affect my students, but there comes a time in life when you need to learn to separate work business from personal business.  Regardless of how you feel when you get to school, I expect each and every student to perform to the best of their ability.  That doesn't mean you have to perform stellar work - just come to class and do what is expected!

I also understand that Social Studies is not everyone's cup of tea.  However, despite how you feel about it, I do expect you to work to the best of your ability.  I expect "A" effort; it may not materialize in an "A" grade, but your grade feels so much better when there is hard work to be shown for it.

Be respectful.
I do not expect to be treated with respect without reciprocation from me.  I will treat you with respect only if I receive respect in return.  Life is a give-and-take, and it's best to learn that now instead of when you are in the "real world."
